  Creative Approaches to Sustainability:

Grassroots and Forum Theatre

This INSET programme aims to illustrate the transformative power of the arts to develop an understanding and
appreciation of issues of sustainability.

“We want to support and encourage participatory learning styles as opposed to ‘delivery’
methods: learner participants as opposed to learner consumers”

This innovative teacher - training programme forms part of the Inspiring Environmental Action through Art initiative
developed by Norfolk County Council’s Arts and Environmental Education Services. This initiative aims to create new and meaningful ways to inspire attitudinal and behavioural change necessary for sustainable living, and to develop a better understanding of the relationship between our cultural and physical environment.

This pilot programme uses Forum Theatre as a means of exploring Sustainability issues and the Global Dimension,
and was led by Theatre for Development Company Grassroots, from Zimbabwe.

Creative Approaches to Sustainability was funded by the East Anglian Development Education Network, (EADEN).
